I have found that anytime I begin to talk about my work with migrants in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I am aware that not everyone shares the same views I do about the controversial topic of immigration in the United States. I am not sure that I could express a concise opinion on such a complex issue. The goal of this blog is not political. It is not a virtual soapbox through which I plan to preach to the world of the need for reform.
What I will hopefully do is to introduce you to some of the people I encounter each summer in the migrant camps and to share with you some of their stories. I will leave all judgments to you.
One last comment. I do feel the need to state publicly that this blog is strictly my idea and in no way reflects the views of any other individual, group, or organization.
That being said, let the stories begin . . . .
